Breeze Camera Setup
Before you begin
Before attempting to configure Breeze, you need to have your webcam and microphone installed. You should follow the instructions that came with your webcam and mic for installation.

NOTE: You should not run any software except Breeze during class. No "Eyeball Chat", etc. Other software will interfere with Breeze.

Use the Test meeting
Normally you will not be able to use your camera without permission from classroom presenter. However, we have set up a special Breeze meeting for testing. The link is: http://breeze.usu.edu/camera/. Use this special Breeze meeting to test your camera and mic.

Say "NO" To The add-in
When you are in Breeze as a "Presenter" (through the link above) you will be prompted to install the Breeze Meeting Add-In. Please don't do so. No matter how insistent Breeze is, just ignore it. (If you have it installed, you should uninstall it by going to your control panel, "Add/Remove Programs" and removing the Adobe or Macromedia Breeze Presenter Add-in.)

Select Your Camera
At the top of Breeze, use the "Meeting" menu to "Select Camera".

A small popup will allow you to choose from any cameras installed and compatible with Breeze. You will need to select the camera you have installed.

NOTE: After you have your camera selected, you can test it (before clicking "Close") by clicking the webcamera icon with the blue background).

Audio Setup Wizard
After closing the camera selection dialog, go back to the "Meeting" menu and start the "Audio Setup Wizard". Ignore the prompt to install the add-in. Read the instructions on each page and use the "Next" button to progress through the Audio Setup Wizard.

Test With A Partner
NOTE: You will need a partner (classmate) on another computer to contine! One student should listen and provide feedback through the discussion/chat while the other student adjusts settings.

Start your camera by clicking the "Start my camera and voice" button in the lower-left of the camera and voice pod.

You will need to grant permission to Breeze to access your camera.

Check Audio
Make sure that Breeze is set to broadcast your microphone. You can either hold down the "Talk" button or use the padlock button to toggle your microphone. The button will be a darker shade of gray and look depressed when it is enabled.
Start audio

If your classmate can hear your microphone broadcast, you should adjust the audio. If your classmate cannot hear your microphone, you should run the "Audio Setup Wizard" again and double check your settings.

Adjust Broadcast Volume
Your classmate should use a one of the professors in the class recordings as a baseline for where your microphone volume should be. Adjust your mic louder or softer as your classmate directs.

To adjust your broadcast volume, open the audio setup wizard again and skip ahead to Step 5 of 5.

Leave the "Silence Level" around 10, and adjust the "Microphone Level" as needed. You can check the "Echo Suppression" box unless you have a very slow computer.

Help Your Classmate
After you have adjusted your volume properly, turn off your camera and microphone using the stop button under the camera and voice pod. Then help your classmate adjust his or her camera.

Insurmountable Difficulties
If you have carefully followed these directions and you are still unable to get your camera and microphone working properly with your classmate, you should contact the USU helpdesk.
